iMacquarium! Of All Things Random…
Yup, time for another edition. My latest offering in the “Of All Things Random…” This time paying homage to the 1o Year Anniversary of the iMac. Just 9 years older than Vintage Limited, this Mac icon was also unveiled during the month of May, ten years ago this week.
As a tribute to the iMac I decided to Google something I’ve always been interested in doing myself. Taking those good old classic iMac cases and putting them to some use. And by USE of course I mean turning them into aquariums!
Down in the Vintage Limited studio/office I have about 3 iMacs sitting around. One I used for about 5 years as a hub broadcasting my internet radio station. Then one night after a bad storm the motherboard fried and I couldn’t part with it so there it sat. And that was the end of my net station manager days too. I was about done anyway. After 5 years of dealing with a slow upload speed on my cable modem because I was sharing it with the station feed + add-in the rising gas & electric utilities, yea, it was about time to let it go. Although at its height I did have an average of 200 listeners per day. Not bad huh?
So anyway, back to the iMac thing. I once seen in a Mac magazine where this guy took his old iMac and made it into an aquarium. I always thought that was pretty cool and wanted to do it! I found this dope site with full downloadable instructions on how to turn your iMac into an aquarium, and also tips on what to use, as well as modifications too. This guy put a laugh track from a greeting card so when somebody hits the power button it goes off. He even added a built in radio and digital alarm clock that displays the time on the walls of the background picture in the aquarium!
So after reading all that… I decided it was a bit too ambitious for me. But hey, maybe one day! Haha!
Check that site I mentioned out HERE.
