Today everyone was snowed in. Everything shuts down when it snows in Atlanta. Which isn’t really a big deal to me cuz I work from home… but I took the day off anyway. This was the result of me having to much extra time on my hands…

More illustration work!! When I first started as a freelance artist my income was like 25% Illustration work and 75% graphic design, now its like 50/50, which I’m real happy about. I must admit I think I’m a better designer then illustrator, but at the same time I enjoy raw illustration much more then design or layout work. Nowadays I’m mixing everything together, there’s no rules except the ones I make.
This is a series of Illustrations I did for my friends at “The Mighty Network”. We created a Robot, Logo, CD packaging, Brand Identity. I keep getting blessed with challenging work that I truly enjoy. Still feel like I’m just getting started though.

This is a CD cover design I created for my friend 4ize, for his “Illuminated Animal” project. Loved working on this cuz it didn’t feel like work. We came up with the concept without even trying. Then the photographer (Mike Moore of Studio8) captured exactly what I had envisioned. I think we got the picture we needed like by the forth shot. Above all that 4ize is the truth, a real down to earth dude with allot of outterspace ideas.

This past Saturday 1.16.10 Aural Flex went down @ 595 North Ave. In Atlanta. Great turn-out, inspiring music, interesting people, and incredibly strong drinks. A guaranteed good time.
I’m really feeling good about this year. I was recently hired by two of Atlanta’s most respected DJ’s: DJ Rasta Root & DJ Kemit to help brand their new monthly event Aural Flex : Music for the World Traveler. We’re really going to be pushing the envelope on this one. So stay tuned!!

“Krylon Tears” is a story of a girl’s poetry coming to life.
This illustration was inspired by a conversation Shaun and I had a while back. Don’t really remember how it started but it ended up in my sketch book.
After sharing this sketch with a few close friends I decided it was worth executing for real. So I redrew the idea allot larger n with much more detail. First in pencil then went over it in ink. After some basic water coloring, scanning all the pieces, then allot of photoshopping I came up with this… Limited print of 500 get’em while you can.

Just finished some graphic design work for The Dream & Los Da Mystro. They wanted a CD cover for there new radio single “Tipsy” by MusicLine artist Tayma Loren. It was easy work… Los is a really down to earth dude, n a pleasure to work with. This isn’t the first time I’ve worked with them.
Between design work, looking for more design work, trying to maintain the little social life I have left, trying to get a clothing line off the ground, keeping up with the house and family… It can get hectic. I LOVE IT!/hate it… lol, anyway its real important to me to always reinvest time into myself. Whether its locking myself in a fogy room zoned out listening to music or just going to the movies by myself. Its a time out of the week where i try to do something that will restore or inspire me. I’m sure you’ve all see this illustration by now. It’s the one we used for our latest piece (seen here in the store). It was based off an old Illustration I did of David vs Goliath. I substituted David’s traditional sling with a microphone to signify the strength of music in my life at that time. Shaun always loved that drawning and we were trying to decide what we wanted to drop next. It was an easy choice. The process was pretty easy. First I redrew the two main character (David and Goliath), then drew the mid ground (evil ninjas), Scanned both into Photoshop and started piecing the background together using photos. I think what really sets this shirt off is the extra gray layer we added, so its not just a standard black & white Tshirt. Even though it cost us extra we had to go with the over-sized print to really bring out the details. This is one of my favorite pieces we’ve done so far… but wait till you see what we do next!
DJ Rasta Root (Atlanta DJ) filmed a brief documentary explaining how the concept of his summer mixtape The Rest of Dilla Vol. 1 came about. There’s a clip featuring me creating the cover art and Dilla’s mother Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey who gave her approval of the project.
