Eric Nine’s/Vintage Limited – NEW Atlanta HQ – A Work In Progress

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Its been over a month since my last post. Hope you don’t think its cuz I don’t have much going on. Its quite the opposite. I’ve never been so busy in my life. I’ve secured a few new clients and had to raise my rates cuz the demand is more then I can handle on my own. I’m in the process of moving into a new office. 669 Atone St. NW Atlanta GA 30318. Its a small upstairs loft located in between Stankonia and Zac’s Recording. Prime location for lots of new traffic. This is a real exciting time for me, not only am I seeing my business grow but I find myself surrounded with creative professionals that I respect and encourage a new level of excellence.

This week we’re cleaning and buying furniture. Next week I hope to move in. Special thanks to my good friends Morgan & Cash at Upstairs Studio. Here’s a few photos of the new spot. Far from finished – work in progress!

We’re still alive and kicking it

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Don’t you hate when your favorite t-shirt companies have their proverbial blogs that they struggle to update with any consistency? Don’t you hate when they drop clothes without any preliminary press only to find out that when you visit their websites weeks later they are out of your sizes already? We don’t want to be one of those.

We’re still alive at Vintage…we’ve just been busy preparing some new drops and endeavoring like never before to get more things moving. We’re proud to have been the official sponsor of the Smokin’ Needles Tour that hit overseas this past month with Chip Fu, Phife Dawg, and DJ Rasta Root, and we’ve got more big news on the way. We also want to extend a sincere thank you to our fan base and every one who is reaching deep into their pockets to cop some of our fresh gear. We appreciate the love and support.

I moved into the position this month of officially managing all of Wordsmith’s activities. This has been a very challenging role for me, but one I’ve adapted to nicely. Wordsmith has too much going on to be laboring himself and as opportunities continue to come in, Vintage Clothing will be there as well. From an incredible set of shows at SOBs in New York City to the album release party at the Eye Bar in DC on March 30, 2010, to nearly 20 interviews with radio DJs over the past few weeks, his schedule continues to be non-stop. And there’s even more coming down the pike. If you guys haven’t copped the new Vintage Experience album by Wordsmith, go visit Amazon or iTunes and pick up a digital copy. I’m sure you’ll find its material is definitely for the discerning hip hop critic.

As far as our Atlanta sponsorship goes, 4-IZE recently came together with Wordsmith for a track that will be featured on his new mix tape scheduled to drop in June. Meanwhile, 4-IZE has his own thing doing. As I write this, he is putting the finishing touches on his new album AwesoMania and is even opening for Bones, Thugs, and Harmony tonight.

In the meantime, I’ve got a new review of Braille’s Weapon Aid album that is dropping in a few weeks. You can also read my exclusive interview with Braille on all that’s been happening in his music and life at www.sphereofhiphop.com

Don’t forget to check out my new radio show exclusively on Revolt Radio www.revoltradio.com Last week I spoke with Cas Metah of the Scribbling Idiots about his music and the role of God in music. This week, I’ll be flying to the opposite end of the spectrum to talk with DMV’s own Whitefolkz (yes, despite the plurality, Folkz is one dude) as he prepares to drop his highly anticipated mix tape AlphaDogg.

I won’t speak for Shaun or Eric, but I assure you they have their hands full as well. So know that when you are out and about wearing our products, our blood, sweat, and tears go into every item – well, not literally, but hey, if you do get some sweat on your shirt it washes out! Blood may be a different story!

I wish I could spill the beans on a few things, but I’m sworn to secrecy until we’ve finalized some things. Just know that good things are happening at Vintage Clothing Limtied. We’ve got you covered.

Our Limo Contest a Success for the Wordsmith Album Release Party

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Vintage Limited took a ride to DC’s famous Eye Bar on Tuesday March 30th to honor Wordsmith on the release of his debut album Vintage Experience. And we brought along with us two winners for our “Ride with Wordsmith in a Limo” contest. Those winners were Heathyr Dozier and Emily Behles both of Baltimore, Md. The two ladies accompanied Shaun B and myself along with Wordsmith, Kontact, Strada, BK, Whitefolkz, and a few other select guests in a stretch black Excursion limousine. Once at the club, Wordsmith rocked the mic, we hung out a bit, and then hoped back in the limo so everyone got home safe and sound.

If your interested in seeing more photo’s from the event then head on over to our Facebook page and check out the photo album.

Wordsmith – Vintage Experience (Available Now!)

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

VintageExperienceWe’ve been friends with Wordsmith for a little over 3 years now. First meeting and seeing him perform at our launch concert in May 2007 I knew right away that big things were in store for this Baltimore native MC. His background in performing arts was a quick draw while seeing him act out his songs like plays on stage, all while never missing a beat on the mic and dropping lyrics that solidify his moniker. Fast forward to March 2010 and this long awaited debut album hit stores, radio, internet and videos like an LA wildfire.

Wordsmith presents 20 tracks for your listening pleasure. What he calls his “movie on wax” as each song plays out a story and the album a 3 chapter chronicle which does everything from paying homage to the pioneers of hip-hop’s past to rocking the blocks and clubs in today’s market and sound.

Make  sure you pick-up a copy of “Vintage Experience” today and enjoy it all Summer! You can grab a copy online at both iTunes and Amazon and preview the tracks as well. Also, be sure to check the album cover designed by Shaun B. (of Vintage Limited) and a few of our shirts make a cameo on the cover art as well playing into the “Vintage” theme of the album concept.

Wordsmith – Tour Guide to New Bride (music video)

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

The second music video off the upcoming Vintage Experience album by Wordsmith is “Tour Guide to New Bride.” While many of Wordsmith’s videos tell a story, there is no doubt that the interspersed narratives in this newest video play well into the notion of the “movie-music video.” Tour Guide to New Bride follows the career of a rising star, our “rapper hero” Wordsmith, as he struggles to meet his obligations in the daily grind, eventually falling in love with his booking agent played by Ally Gunther.

Trey P makes an appearance during the club scene. You’ll see him walking across in a white and blue Ecko track jacket, Amongst Friends hat, and of course Vintage Limited’s “Lion in the City” t-shirt. Wordsmith also sports “The Rock is Steady” t-shirt in the last scene. This is an enjoyable video and like nothing you’ve seen in a minute. Classic storytelling here!

Don’t forget to download your free copy of Wordsmith’s “Vintage Vault” mixtape as a prelude to the “Vintage Experience” official album dropping on March 30th. You can grab the mixtape here.

Open call to all producers! Send in your beats for the podcast.

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Vintage_BeatLab_Podcast_600x600This is an open call to all beat producers! The Vintage BeatLab podcast presented by DJ Bonezelli and Vintage Clothing Limited would like to invite you to send in your beat submissions for consideration on future beat mix podcast episodes!

What is the BeatLab Podcast?

Think of it like a 30 minute beat tape released every 2 weeks in podcast form so fans can subscribe through itunes and have it automatically downloaded when a new mix drops. Its all underground beats with no lyrics so you can throw this on and do some work or chill or set a mood without any lyrics or artist distraction. It’s all about the beats!

Our podcast DJ (DJ Bonezelli) travels the World collecting beats from producers both know, unknown, commercial and underground and his beat collection is incredible. You might hear a Madlib beat then a Dilla joint followed by The ARe, then Alchemist, then Black Milk, M-Phazes, YOU and so on…

What do I send in and how?

Producers can submit beats through email attachments or links in an email to: beatlab@vintagelimited.com – The stipulations are that the music need to be in mp3 format at least 192 kbps (or higher!) but no more than 512 kbps to keep file sizes manageable on our end. No more than 5 beat submissions per email and all beats need to be fully ID3 tagged (which you can do in itunes) with artist name, album name (if applicable), and beat name. If a beat is from an artists album other than you (the producer) then the name should be as followed “song name (instrumental) – artists name – prod. by producers name”. This should help us to keep stuff organized.

Also if you have press sheets, album release information, etc. Please feel free to send us that as well. Please note that not all beat submissions will make it on the rotation and will be up to the podcast dj to make all final playlist decisions. We definitely appreciate your interest and send in those beats!

Check out the Vintage BeatLab Podcast now, right here on our site. You should also subscribe on iTunes now here.

Thanks and Best Regards!

Vintage Limited and PEDX pres. Always Dope (Wordsmith live) revisited

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Baltimore clothing boutique PEDX (who we’ve been promoting in the past couple months both in our newsletters and here on the blog) in February had planned to teamed up with us here at Vintage Limited and sponsor their weekly hip-hop show called Always Dope. Originally the event was scheduled for February 2 but due to a record breaking blizzard that pretty much paralyzed Maryland that event was postponed.

Last night at the swanky club in the Mt. Vernon district called Red Maple, set against a cold and rainy Tuesday evening backdrop, the rescheduled event took place. As planned we were in the building full force, and regardless of the less than the capacity crowd we had expected (due to a number of factors) those who came certainly got their entertainment fix for the evening. Around 11:45 Wordsmith hit the floor, mic in hand, and crowd raring to hear some heat. Word definitely did not disappoint. He left it all on the floor as he walked away, sweat from his face and exhausted after an energetic performance as if appearing before a prime time tv audience. Even know there was no Leno in attendance a video crew was capturing the set. I had my camera in hand as well and took plenty of photo’s to document the night. Below are a few but for the full effect you need to head on over to our Facebook fan page and check out the photo gallery here.

A big shout out to Garth the owner of PEDX for his hospitality and for the opportunity. I’m sure this won’t be the last event we’ll do together and I definitely look forward to more in the future. Also, a big thank you to all the blog readers, and people who receive our newsletters and support us with your purchases. I got the chance to talk with a few of our local supporters last night and its always inspiring to hear that you like what we’re doing and rep us hard! Thanks for the compliments coming first hand and face to face. Much respect!
