Eric Nine “I’m a Beast” featured in Atlanta’s Creative Loafing press

October 29th, 2010

CreativeLoafingE9

Vintage Limited’s Eric Nine was recently interviewed by Atlanta’s Creative Loafing press to discuss his “I’m a Beast” art exhibit including the concepts behind it and the new, limited edition, tshirt drop which is now available at our online store. Check out the article which also includes insights from photographer and co-creative of the exhibit Mike Moore of Studio 8 as well as one of Eric’s featured “beasts” Dennis Malcolm Byron (aka Ale Sharpton).

My favorite excerpt from the article is one that quotes Eric…

The title of the show is I’m A Beast, but the last thing I wanted to do was make people think that I’m coming out saying that I, Eric Nine, am a beast at what I do. These are people that are beasts at what they do, that’s why Mike and I didn’t include ourselves. We wanted to keep the focus on the underground scene of Atlanta that keeps the city thriving, keeps people motivated to come out for good music, good visuals, good writing. It’s all the things I fell in love with when I came to Atlanta. It was very inspiring to me and I’ve got to give it back to everybody involved in the underground scene in Atlanta. The rock, punk rock, rap, DJs — I’ve fallen in love with so many things about Atlanta that I wanted to give something back and kind of plug myself into that scene.
As we continue to do these events, we’re going to continue trying to get rid of the segregation with different genres of music. It’s not about a type of music, but a type of energy and feeling that we’re looking for. And it’s that real feeling that you can’t explain, you can just feel. We’re mostly about people doing their thing for the sake of self-expression.

I’m A Beast – Art Exhibit October 20th in Atlanta

October 14th, 2010

Ima-Beast-press-webpost

“I’m A Beast” is the title of my first art solo exhibit. Its a tribute to Atlanta’s creative community. The concept is simple, If you master your craft, run things in your lane, are among the best at what you do, then your a beast.

Because of my line of work I’ve always been in contact with the best musicians, DJs, photographers, journalists, promoters and emcees who are responsible for keeping Atlanta’s population in tune with the latest in the world of art. Maintaining relationships and following the careers of these various trendsetters, I hand selected some from the top tier who were what I considered “beasts” at their particular crafts. What better way to portray their excellence than to literally transform them into Beast. I couldn’t of done it with out the help of Mike Moore of Studio8.

art4dilla

“So Far To Go” is an international art contest and a tribute to a loved and missed recording artist and producer, James Dewitt Yancey, also known as J Dilla. Artists can submit their original artwork inspired by J Dilla. The top voted contestant’s artwork will be produced as a poster and limited edition Giclee print series signed by the artist and J Dilla’s mother, Ma Dukes. Proceeds will be donated to the J Dilla Foundation.

Vote for Vintage Limited’s own Eric Nine entry in this contest by clicking the link HERE.

We had attempted to produce a limited run of t-shirts with this artwork but ran into set backs and decided it wasn’t in our best interests to pursue at this time. However, we would love to see this artwork continue to take on new life and be made available for the public so please help by voting for Eric’s artwork in the contest. The contest runs until December 30, 2010.

“4-ize calls on the soulful sounds of former Purple Ribbon All-Star Scar to bring the hook to life on this hip hop masterpiece produced by Floyd The Locsmif.”
